First Curved Samsung Smartphone to Launch in Oct.

First Curved Samsung Smartphone
Yesterday we heard a rumor that Samsung was working on a version of the Galaxy Note 3 with a flexible display, and today the company may have confirmed the news, announcing that its first curved smartphone will launch next month. Reuters reports that Samsung Mobile’s head of strategic marketing D.J. Lee  broke the news earlier today at an event marking the Note 3′s launch in Seoul, Korea.
“We plan to introduce a smartphone with a curved display in South Korea in October,” Lee said, essentially confirming that we may see the first mass produced curved smartphone next month. Samsung already sells curved OLED TVs, but packing the same technology into a significantly smaller design would be unprecedented.
What remains unclear is whether a curved display means the same thing as flexible or bendable for Samsung. The possibility of a smartphone you can fold up into your pocket or roll out for a tablet-sized screen to work on sounds amazing, but still too futuristic to see in the next few years. However, a curved display could also mean a rigid screen that simply curves out—like the company’s new TV—to offer a more immersive experience. Either way, it looks like we won’t have to wait long to find out what Samsung has in its pipeline.
